Dear Lorraine,
It's "Heart Month" in
more ways than one - February is American Heart Month (first
proclaimed by Congress in 1963) and, of course, February 14 is
Valentine's Day. So, I'm going to take this opportunity to
speak to you right from my heart about how to improve the
status quo.
Extraordinary times
call for extraordinary action.
Yes, these are
extraordinary times and you must know that we are all in this
together. No one succeeds alone. If you think you do, you're
wrong. Everything you do affects someone else - either
directly or indirectly because we are all connected in a very
delicate system. Being mindful of your actions will result in
a more thoughtful outcome and that, my friend, is
extraordinary action in motion.
Extraordinary Tip #1:
There is nothing I want more than to help others succeed by
serving as a leadership career coach and consultant. I know I
cannot do it alone. That is why I surround myself with
Cool Friends, industry experts who can fill the gaps in my
expertise so that together we can treat you (my clients and
colleagues) as a whole person. Assemble your own personal
board of directors, pull your resources together, and do
something extraordinary to help someone succeed.
Do something
extraordinary in the next 30 days - - you won't regret it!
And, now - - - please
feel free to spread the word and share this newsletter with
your friends and family - - Bloom On!

Ready,
Willing, and Able
Extraordinary times
call for ordinary people to take extraordinary action to make
things happen. Let's assume you are ready and willing; the
question now becomes "are you able" to succeed during these
extraordinary times?
Being able
means you have the ability, talent, and skills to succeed.
Check for yourself. Are you able to:
- Connect with real
opportunities?
- Set yourself apart
from the status quo?
- Communicate your
intention with focus and clarity?
Want to learn how to
assess the current landscape, plan your search, and execute on
your plan by putting it into action?
If you need help
to realize your ability for success, that's what we do.
Send an email,
we'll support you in your efforts. It's time to make things
happen for your success - - and, it's time to do it with
enthusiasm, focus, and clarity!

Take Extraordinary
Action!

This month is a
great time to take heart and do something extraordinary.
Here's how:
- Ask yourself,
"are you ready, willing, and able to be successful
during these extraordinary times?" Take actionable
steps to make it so.
- If you
know someone who works at one of Fortune Magazine's Best
100 Companies, why not give them a call and congratulate
them? If you are someone who works for one of these
companies - "Congratulations to you!"
- Don't settle for sub-standard customer service.
Offer constructive feedback (not destructive
criticism) to help others improve their service to you
when it falls short of your expectations. As a matter
of fact, don't be afraid to raise your standards of
quality service.
- If you're in a job search, go beyond your resume.
Developing your personal brand is a process you work
on your entire career lifetime.
- The next time
you ask someone "how are you?", be prepared to listen
intently to the real answer, even if it's not a happy
response.

Best Companies to Work For
Nugget Market,
based in Woodland CA, landed the #10 spot on Fortune's
2009 list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For. That's
two spots up from their #12 position last year. They must
be doing something extraordinary!
According to
Fortune Magazine, "Even in this economy, some companies
are going out of their way to please employees. This year,
there's a new no. 1, as Google slips to no. 4. See
detailed profiles of the top 100 employers, including
interactive maps, key perks, contact information, and
more."

Are
you a headbanger?
Horses are meant
to run, birds are meant to fly, fish are meant to swim,
and humans are, well - - I believe humans are meant to
learn.
So when it comes
to learning, why is it so many of us keep trying to change
the outcome without changing our method? This is about as
effective as banging your head repeatedly against a wall -
it won't quit hurting until you quit doing it.
Albert Einstein
once said "The definition of insanity is doing the same
thing over and over again and expecting different
results". Think about this quote for a second and ask
yourself, does this quote apply to the way you run your
career or business?
Extraordinary times call for extraordinary action. What's
extraordinary about doing the same thing with the same
outcome? I guess the question becomes, what's
extraordinary about insanity?
Are you a
head-banger? Think about it.

It might take two or three attempts to finally get
someone's attention so, be prepared to make each attempt a bit
more extraordinary than the previous.
