Dear Lorraine,
Setting all of the
clocks and time pieces in our home in order to "spring
forward" was like a practice session for an easter egg
hunt. And, the hunt continues as I stumble upon the time
pieces that I forgot to set this past Sunday.
The whole process makes me think about how important keeping
track of time in my life has become. I always saw my life
as a "matter of time", but today I think of time as
"priceless" because I want to live a more "timeless" life.
In this month's issue,
I'll share thoughts and ideas around making the most of the
time you have. And, now - - - please feel free to spread the
word and share this newsletter with your friends and family -
- Bloom On!

Invest
just one more degree of effort in yourself!
What would happen if
you invested just one more degree of effort into your career?
How much closer to reaching your goals and dreams would you
be?
You would be amazed at
how much you can accomplish with just one more degree of
effort. You can begin by taking personal action NOW:
- List one or two things that you will start doing with one
extra degree of effort.
- List one or two things you are currently doing with one
more degree of effort that you will continue to do.
- List one or two things you occassionally do that are
counter-productive to giving one more degree of effort that
you will stop doing.
Want to learn how to
assess your current efforts, plan your next step in
professional development, and execute on your plan by putting
it into action?
If you need help
to realize your personal action plan for success, that's what
we do.
Send an email,
we'll support you in your efforts. It's time to make things
happen for your success - - and, it's time to do it with
enthusiasm, focus, and clarity!

The Art of Spending
Time
Most
of us started this week with a time change and have
managed to "spring forward" in the tradition of daylight
savings.
One less hour to get through all those things we think
we need to do. How do you decide?
Be careful on your commitments:
You may not give a serious thought about your
pre-existing commitments when you make a new one.
Slowly the commitments add up, and you get
overwhelmed. You start slipping up on them. You can
actually turn this problem around by being extremely
careful when making new commitments or promises to
people.
Engage in your areas of strengths:
It's easier to manage your commitments when
you are working in your areas of strengths. While it
may be impossible to get into an arrangement where you
are always working in your areas of strength,
you must make an attempt. It's an ideal condition.
Even if you never get 100% there, it's worth the
effort to try.
Practice leverage wherever possible:
When you feel the desire to "fix things
yourself," take time to look at the resources
available around you. Who else could complete this
task? Remember, you will only have twenty-four hours
in a day. Applying leverage, you can vastly expand
what you can get out of those twenty-four hours.

me your tips!

Transition Survival Plan
Company mergers and acquisitions continue to be a big
part of our business landscape. For the most part, your
attitude throughout the entire merger/acquisition
process will have a
 significant
impact on how you not only survive the experience, but
thrive as a result of the change
When two companies merge, the staff from the original
companies is usually left wondering who will stay and
who will go. Many times resource redundancies are
discovered in the newly structured organization. It's
usually a bad idea to think there are "safe" positions,
it's more prudent to be ready to execute on one of two
options: Either find a way to stay or make a graceful
exit.
Here's an excerpt from our Manager's Guide to Surviving
a Corporate Transition:
Contingency Planning
You will need an exit route for two reasons. If you are
laid off as a consequence of a merger or acquisition,
then you will need a plan to secure other employment. If
you survive the corporate transition only to find that
working for the newly formed company is not for you,
then you may need to find a new job.
Here are some questions we can help you answer:
- How do you know it's time to go?
- How do you effectively plan an exit strategy?
- You've decided to execute on your exit strategy - What
is the appropriate messaging?

Are
you timeless?
Like most other
little girls (et al) of my generation, Barbie was one of
my favorite playtime companions. My Barbie got a new
outfit every few weeks (thanks to my mom) and her
miniature couture clothing always came with the perfect
accessories. I absolutely loved selecting Barbie's shoes
and jewelry for her outfit - - selecting Barbie's ensemble
for the day was a way to find my own sense of style. My
mom would simply smile at my eclectic creations - usually
a combination of timeless classics with surprising
pairings of color and texture. Hmmm, I haven't changed
much.
Today's issue of
the AARP Magazine (yes, I am a subscriber!) reports that
Barbie has turned 50. Just to look at her you'd never know
it. And this doll has really been a mover and shaker.
She met her beau Ken (Carson) back in 1961 but never
married him (I guess they broke up after 43 years but
they're back together now). She was an astronaut, an
Olympic gold medal winner, joined the Army, and even ran
for President (1992). To top it off, Barbie even became
multi-racial - how cool is that?! (Read
AARP article on Barbie here .)
Okay, so Barbie is only a doll - - but what a doll!
She's remained timeless with us throughout the past 50
years - - she's managed to cross multiple generations
and has adapted to the changing times without losing her
original "it" qualities. Can you say the same about
yourself?
Are you timeless?
Think about it.
Best/Lorraine
