Just One Thing!
Daily habits are those things we do everyday without thinking,
those actions we do with our internal "auto pilot" switch
turned on.
Then there are those things we know we should do, but for some
reason we procrastinate. When this happens . . .

Is it a good idea to change jobs
during a recession?

The
answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind - - - but the
following is a perspective that may inspire you to step
outside of your comfort zone.
While most people may think they need to "hunker down" in
their current jobs and try to avoid getting laid off, the
reality is - - staying put could actually do more harm to your
career than pursuing a new opportunity. According to a blog
entry posted by Meredith Levinson in a recent issue of CIO
Magazine, "a new opportunity could be your ticket to stability
and economic prosperity".
Could very well be, but I also think it's important for you
to understand the playing field inside your organization and
seek internal opportunities for growth and advancement
during these times before heading out the door. Either way,
I believe that if you put yourself ahead of the comeback
curve, you'll be better positioned to take external
opportunities with companies who remain innovative leaders
in their industries.
Read Meredith's entire
blog article and decide for yourself.

Telling
My Story - Wonder & Belief
I found
a way to present my ideas on the topic of authentic leadership
by telling a part of my own story. It's a hard one for me to
tell, maybe because I'm such a private person - - maybe it's
because this story is comprised of my personal memories and
once they are shared, they no longer belong to only me. They
become "yours" as well.
I wrote "Wonder and Belief" earlier this year as a
component of a keynote speech I delivered in Hawaii. The
telling of my story was inspired by four authentic
leaders in my life and is dedicated to my brother and the
154th Wing HIANG.
