Dear Lorraine,
It's the season of changing colors and perspectives. As
an adjunct to that, this is also a great time to look at how
to manage a transition more effectively. We'll cover a few
transitional basics for you in this month's issue.
I'll also re-introduce you to my cool friend and colleague,
Cheryl Mann, who is one of the best team development
specialists I know. If you missed her last month, here's
another opportunity for you to "meet" her!
Blooming Baby Boomers are always growing (blooming) and
finding ways to make a positive difference. If you're one of
these people, I know you'll do something every single day to
lead, inspire, and change the world . . . AGAIN!
Thanks for reading Boomer Bloomer Press as we celebrate its
second year as an e-publication. As always, please feel free
to spread the word and share your "virtual bloomers" with
colleagues, friends, and family! Now . . . read on!

Reinventing Your Career or Business

Find the Job that Fits You
Rather than going "round and round" by trying to (re)fit
yourself to meet the job, how about having the job fit
you. Doing this may require a new way of thinking about
job searching. Are you ready?

Turn Your Cell Phone Off!
Third in a series. Each month, we'll present
"real world etiquette" advice for people just
starting their career (as well as those needing a bit of
polish and finesse).
You've all experienced a pivotal moment when all eyes
and ears were on the person being honored, remembered,
memorialized, celebrated and then it happens - - the
moment is abruptly interrupted by the sound of a ringing
cell phone. And, it doesn't stop there. . .

A Simple "Thank You" May Give You an Edge
You've been taught to do this since you were a little
kid. So, why in the world would you suddenly stop saying
"please" and/or "thank you"?
Plain good manners aside, as a career strategy,
sending a thank you note may give you an edge over other
candidates. According to Robert Half Technology, "80% of
the executives polled said sending a thank you note
following an interview can boost a job seeker's chances
of landing the position."
Even with this huge support for thank you notes, hiring
managers still report that almost half (49%) of
applicants fait to send them.

Discovering What's Unique About the Real You
I appreciate each and every moment of clarity that
comes along. My latest moment came during a conversation
with a radical young visionary I recently met over a cup
of coffee as we exchanged ideas on whether its "better"
to be a generalist or a specialist. As we spoke, what
became clear to me was. . .
